With Landsec and its fantastic consultant team, Apt is delighted to have submitted a Detailed Planning Application to redevelop Hill House and Shoe Lane Library in the City of London.
Hill House will create a sustainable and healthy workplace for the future with access to landscaped terraces at every level. Significant tree planting on the curated terraces creates a vertical forest that climbs up the building, hosting wildlife and improving biodiversity. The proposals retain almost 60% of the building’s existing structure providing a platform for low carbon, innovative design.
A vibrant mix of uses are created at ground floor including a new and improved home for the Shoe Lane Library. The library will be moved out of the basement into a purpose-built home on the ground floor, facing onto an improved Gunpower Square - meaning better accessibility, presence and direct access to outside space. Gunpowder Square will be enhanced to celebrate the area’s rich history and provide a unique green space for the public to enjoy.
At the top of the building, a rooftop restaurant and a cultural events space with extensive landscaped terraces will offer stunning views over London and add to the City’s growing network of destinations.
