Build your architecture from what is beneath your feet”
— Hassan Fathy

Omar decided to study architecture with the firm belief that no creative discipline has a more significant and longer-lasting social impact. He attended the University of Nottingham and, later, the University of Bath as he worked towards his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

Growing up during the construction boom in the Middle East, Omar was entranced by his rapidly evolving and ever-changing environment. Witnessing the city he called home become increasingly unrecognisable showed him the true power of architecture in shaping the lives of those who inhabit it. Whilst this developed his enthusiasm for the unconstrained conceptualisation of physical space, studying in the UK introduced a fresh perspective of architecture that is culturally and socially enriching in its nature.

Omar joined Apt with a deep admiration for design that is conceptually provocative in its response to contextual constraints. He explored this notion while writing his dissertation on Cairo’s urban phenomenon of Informal Architecture and how this can be reinterpreted as a socially driven mode of urbanism.

Beyond architecture, Omar allocates (too much) time during weekends to watching football or Formula 1.
