David Hearn is the Non-Executive Chair at Apt, a role he has held with the company since its inception in 2009. David is an experienced Chair, both of listed companies and privately owned businesses and in addition to Apt, is currently the Chair of Tate & Lyle and Safestore Holdings PLC. Until November 2023 he was Chair of the a2 Milk Company, an organisation listed on the New Zealand and Australian Stock Exchanges.

In these roles, David has lived in a number of countries and had the privilege of enjoying not only the culture but also the architectural environment of some of the world's most exciting and dynamic cities - including London, Barcelona, Sydney, and New York. As a result, he has gained a broad experience of diverse types of businesses, had the opportunity to contribute to their operations and help them through the challenges of growth - both professionally and personally. 

David’s position as Chair has been instrumental in the continuing success of the business, imparting his rounded wisdom, allowing the studio to continue to develop creative architectural solutions, but also to create a dynamic and exciting team of inspiring people, something he finds both stimulating and fun to be a part of.
