Paul was born in Dulwich in 1951, where he spent his school days. He studied architecture at Nottingham University and Kingston Polytechnic. Early travels across north Africa and around Iran stimulated his interest in vernacular architecture and climate specific design.
He formed Davis & Bayne in 1977 and re-formed as Paul Davis + Partners in 1994. Starting with 16 people, he built PD+P to 100 people in London and 25 in Hong Kong. Paul is best known for his work for numerous of the Central London landed estates with a focus on residential and retail conservation area and Listed Building projects.
He was a RIBA national councillor and main board member for six years and President of the ACA for two terms. He recently co-authored a best-selling book, ‘Dulwich, Mid-Century Oasis’ and is presently completing an illustrated memoir of a life in architecture.
During his professional career, Paul built many lasting friendships within the industry, Eduardo Urinovsky is one such friend and it was this friendship that led to Paul meeting the Apt directors in 2020. Paul joined Apt’s board of trustees in 2021, bringing with him over 30 years of experience within the architecture industry. His deep understanding of the industry allows him to provide valuable input into the business.
