This is Saoirse Stenhouse
The only important thing about design is how it relates to people.”
— Victor Papanek
Hailing from Aberdeen, Saoirse swapped a promising career in dance in pursuit of architecture. From a young age she found herself drawn to creative outlets, spending much of her youth dancing, drawing and making houses out of lollipop sticks.
She spent the last three years studying at the University of Dundee. The highlight of this time was a study trip to Wuhan, China which saw her developing a social housing scheme for a section of its impoverished community. She found that being immersed in the city’s distinct urban typology and getting to know the locals gave her a drive to create architecture that was truly representative of the user.
At Apt, Saoirse has been contributing towards the Design Consent Order for the exciting new London Resort masterplan.
From cutting shapes to drawing them, she now spends her free time wandering about the capital in search of coffee, knitwear and flower markets. Back home in Aberdeen, she enjoys country walks with the dog and spending time with her family.
