The only important thing about design is how it relates to people.”
Hailing from Aberdeen, Saoirse completed her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees just down the road at the University of Dundee. Her professional career started as a Part I Architectural Assistant at Apt during the pandemic and continued with her return to the studio as a Part II Architectural Assistant.
During her studies, her projects ranged from a social housing scheme in China to flood-resilient architecture in Edinburgh. Each project emphasised the importance of creating architecture that is truly representative of the user and the surrounding context. Saoirse's master’s thesis looked to rethink the city by challenging the modern-day convention of forgettance.
At Apt, Saoirse has been involved in various projects, utilising her diverse skillset to solve challenges through design. Saoirse is involved in mentoring Apt’s apprentices in support of their studies on the road to becoming architects.
Outside the office, Saoirse spends her free time wandering about the capital in search of coffee, knitwear, and flower markets.
