Design that is context driven from massing to material allows for truly unique placemaking”
Bram’s drive to build quickly evolved from humble garage extensions and row houses to large mixed-use projects, giving him a unique understanding of complex briefs that create spaces that have people and context at their heart. Originally from the Netherlands, Bram’s passion for architecture brought him all around the world, including a four-year stint in China before returning to the UK.
Bram joined Apt in 2018 from Foster + Partner Architects, where he was involved in numerous projects for over a decade, including Central Markets, a 650,000m² mixed-use development scheme in Abu Dhabi. His extensive experience also includes the design and construction of the Bund Finance Centre, a 420,000m² mixed-use scheme in Shanghai that includes five tall office towers, a 70m 5-star hotel, a retail podium, and a culture centre.
As a Director at Apt, he is currently working on a variety of projects across the UK and the Middle East. Notable projects include 2 Trafalgar Way, a student-led, mixed-use campus currently on site and set to become the largest Passivhaus building in Europe, and 4 Portal Way, a 58-storey, residential-led, mixed-use development that also includes a 90-key hotel and flexible retail.
Passionate about inspiring the next generation, Bram mentors apprentices within the studio.
